Joyful Gnosis: Mind, Meditation and the Music of the Spheres
Thursday April 12th. Grant Recital Hall, Brown University. 8 – 10pm. Free.

1. An illustrated overview presentation of the background and development of Harmonic Chant and the Harmonic Presence contemplative practices. This will cover the cosmological aspects of the music of the spheres (the cosmic microwave background, helioseismology, harmonic resonance in String Theory), influences from spiritual traditions and Mr. Hykes’ teachers (Tibetan Buddhism, Pueblo spirituality, India and non-dual Advaita, medieval Christian sonic mysticism, Sufism, and the Gurdjieff Work), and the development of Harmonic Chant as a contemplative music lineage since 1975.

2. A musical interlude where Mr. Hykes will present compositions of Harmonic Chant (accompanied by the Harmonic Vision live video art program he has developed, which does real-time transformation of harmonic vocal spectra into the corresponding spatial geometries).

3. "Harmonic Meeting," a session of sonic awareness practices and exercises with the audience.
